PHLA - Linggo ng Wik 2010

Today is the Linggo ng Wika of Perpetual Help Learning Academy (formerly Perpetual Help Learning Center).

Actually every year this event are always attended by parents and also relativs of the student, WHY? because every student will participate in a presentation no one will left behind drooling while other classmate were singing or dancing in the stage. This is also the main reason why relatives are present in the school activity.

Anyway, i have here my pictures during our turn in the event:

PHLC: Fieldtrip 10-22-07

Last Monday they went to Zoobic Safari (morning) and Anne Raquels Resort (afternoon) for their annual school fieldtrip. All of us enjoy the tour during the whole morning to Zoobic Safari while watching some animals that we cant usually see in the zoo nowadays in Metro Manila. One major attraction was the close encounter of tigers. Yes it is a wild tiger. We are insidethe vehicle because the tigers are scattered in their assgined area wherein they can freely roam around.
See our video. I use my sister's K800i cellphone to get this.

I also enjoy taking shots of some animals I find interesting. See below and enjoy.

This dear is not physically in his cage, they stay
in an area dedicated to them

Among those camels, this one is the most tame and less fur in his body

Actually this white water buffalo intrigues me, how come
he is not our traditional black carabao?

According to our tour guide, this monkey is inlove. This kind
monkey manifest a red butt when she is inlove.

PHLC: Fieldtrip Dec 3, 2006

Its been an exciting and very exhausting day last Sunday Dec 3, 2006. Our first stop : Pasig Rain Forest, actually this is more like a "Park and Mini Zoo" in one place, you could also compare it to a club house (minus the zoo) because they have facilities for all those who like to swim, play basketball and badminton, also you could held your birthdays and meetings there with complete facilities. (Sorry i dont have photos for those)

These are my sample pictures from Pasig Rain Forest:

Our second pit stop : SM Mall of Asia
Shame on me because this is my first visit to the largest mall of the world (or in Asia?) Its near in Macapagal Highway so if you frequently in this area, you wouldn't miss SM Mall of Asia. Take a peek below this is my only picture in that area.

And before we proceed to Enchanted Kingdom we have our lunch in Petron Station in South Super Highway. Some had their lunch inside McDo and the other stay in their respective bus. Then after lunch we go straight to EK.... yahooooo... in the middle of the afternoon which is not the perfect time to make your rides. Anyway to those who are with their kids Im sure you not enjoy this, you rather make "habol" with your kiddo than enjoying the rides.

PHLC: United Nation - Oct 27

Last Oct 27 was the PHLC United Nation Celebration. Another first of the school since the expanded from pre-school to having grade 3 for elementary. Actually this years activity always gives me a surprise. Last August for their Linggo ng Wika was also smashing and really a big event, and of course this UN program seems the most grand and very well prepared. I could compare this to the Santa Cruzan Feast due to the muse and escorts custome and floats that very well created and prepared by those parents and relatives of the students that are participated.

See some pictures: (Actually i forgot to take a shot for my childs class representative - Spain)

Egypt

Columbia

Mexico England
USA
Germany

I want also to share this video of Mr. and Ms. Spain from Grade 1 Section Blue (Alyssa's class) the girl name is Patricia and her escort Jerwyn. They also won the Mr. and Ms. UN for Senior Division (Elementary)

Honesty is Still The Best Policy

Another school incident that boils my brain. Here it goes: I hope teachers and staff from PHLC will read this.

July 28 (that was friday) my mother ask around the schools about an umbrella my daughter lost that day. Hoping that anyone from school or any student with good heart might found it and reported/give it to the faculty. But as expected it already gone and we already accepted that it will never be back. And since my mother was not always the one who fetch my kid to school regularly we're unable to ask other fetcher about the lost umbrella.

Come last Oct 6 Friday my mother saw the same umbrella to a young lady fetching a 2nd grader in the same school. So my mom ask about the umbrella and check the name and tel# we marked, she noticed that name of my daughter was erased and changed it to another name. But it is obvious there that the original name and our tel # is still readable if you inspect carefully. My mom explain to the girl that we lost the same design umbrella and point it out that it might be the one since the name is still readable there, but due to respect my mom told that maybe the girl should told the mother of the 2nd grader and hoping that on monday Oct 9 that they willingly give it back to us.

Now tuesday Oct 10, my mom saw that umbrella again. My mom approach an old lady (lola of the 2nd grader) and ask about the umbrella. After a short inquiry that end up to the faculty office, they seems they dont want to give it back to "US", even if some teachers there asking why that umbrella have our tel #. Still they insist they own that the umbrella, that the little girl's tita bought it along with the raincoat with same design. Now since they dont want to give it back, my mother says try to dial the number indicated there and ask, but still the other party dont seem to care about the word LOGIC and VIDENCE. Well, my mother let the teachers handle the case.

I dont want to be judgemental so I let you my readers to react and let this incident be our learning experience.

May I ask do you think it is possible to launch a school campaign that anyone who found a lost item in school and surrendered to school staff should be be given a commendation? It will teach students to be honest and be a good exmple to others.

Anyway, just another day being a mom. Sometimes I regret it when Im not the one who handles this for my child.

PHLC: Linggo ng Wika

Today is "Linggo ng Wika" celebration for all students in Perpetual Help Learning Center and definitely a must see event. This is the first time that all classes in their school should present and make a booth that represent a region which is pre-assigned per class. In Bembem's class Grade 1 section Blue, they showcased all popular food representing Region 3 (Central Luzon) and to my surprise all parents specially those SAHM (stay at home mom) are very much involved in this event. Although there are contribution for their baro't saya costume some parents volunteer to bring some food delicacies like palabok, biko, puto, chicharon, pulvoron and other finger foods. To complete the booth, they decorate it with some palayok, dayami and other materials that makes it Filipiniana style. See picture above.

The difference of this event from the past are all students participated in the celebration by presenting a group dance or group recitation of a poem (sabayang pagbigkas) wherein all students are in their own costume related to what region they are representing for Bembem's class they are representing Region 3 Central Luzon. And to make it excited the school awarded those group who have their best performance, best in booth, most behave group (i think this award helps a lot to make the event very organized without children loittering around).

And because of an organized presentation of Bembem's group they got the Best in Performance award!!!! I think we should congratulate also those mommy/daddy/tito/tita/grandma that are very active in participating in this successful event. And I'm also thankful (as in very thankful) that at once the school make this a non boring and very interactive activity for all not only for adults but also for kids. For more pictures click here

3rd Place in their Class

Recognition Day and Graduation Day are coming and Bembem is very excited about it. She wants to get another medal for this year, actually last year in her nursery class she got 3rd Place (there are Outstanding, 1st, 2nd and 3rd).

This year in her Kinder class my mother told me that my daughter got the 3rd Place again (but now they have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th honor). Hoorrayyyy….. another medal for Bembem, this time their class have a higher bracket of grades than the other class, there are feedbacks that the 1st Honor in the other Kinder Class is almost the same bracket where Bembem also belongs. Since the school decided that they will give medals in every class that only means that the honorable places was intended only for each classes not the whole kinder grade.
