PHLC: United Nation - Oct 27

Last Oct 27 was the PHLC United Nation Celebration. Another first of the school since the expanded from pre-school to having grade 3 for elementary. Actually this years activity always gives me a surprise. Last August for their Linggo ng Wika was also smashing and really a big event, and of course this UN program seems the most grand and very well prepared. I could compare this to the Santa Cruzan Feast due to the muse and escorts custome and floats that very well created and prepared by those parents and relatives of the students that are participated.

See some pictures: (Actually i forgot to take a shot for my childs class representative - Spain)

Honesty is Still The Best Policy

Another school incident that boils my brain. Here it goes: I hope teachers and staff from PHLC will read this.

July 28 (that was friday) my mother ask around the schools about an umbrella my daughter lost that day. Hoping that anyone from school or any student with good heart might found it and reported/give it to the faculty. But as expected it already gone and we already accepted that it will never be back. And since my mother was not always the one who fetch my kid to school regularly we're unable to ask other fetcher about the lost umbrella.

Come last Oct 6 Friday my mother saw the same umbrella to a young lady fetching a 2nd grader in the same school. So my mom ask about the umbrella and check the name and tel# we marked, she noticed that name of my daughter was erased and changed it to another name. But it is obvious there that the original name and our tel # is still readable if you inspect carefully. My mom explain to the girl that we lost the same design umbrella and point it out that it might be the one since the name is still readable there, but due to respect my mom told that maybe the girl should told the mother of the 2nd grader and hoping that on monday Oct 9 that they willingly give it back to us.

Now tuesday Oct 10, my mom saw that umbrella again. My mom approach an old lady (lola of the 2nd grader) and ask about the umbrella. After a short inquiry that end up to the faculty office, they seems they dont want to give it back to "US", even if some teachers there asking why that umbrella have our tel #. Still they insist they own that the umbrella, that the little girl's tita bought it along with the raincoat with same design. Now since they dont want to give it back, my mother says try to dial the number indicated there and ask, but still the other party dont seem to care about the word LOGIC and VIDENCE. Well, my mother let the teachers handle the case.

I dont want to be judgemental so I let you my readers to react and let this incident be our learning experience.

May I ask do you think it is possible to launch a school campaign that anyone who found a lost item in school and surrendered to school staff should be be given a commendation? It will teach students to be honest and be a good exmple to others.

Anyway, just another day being a mom. Sometimes I regret it when Im not the one who handles this for my child.
